Prayer Times Riverside: Islamic Prayer Schedule & Community Guide
Prayer times Riverside for today, 03 Nov 2026 (23 Jumādá al-ūlá 1448 Hijri): Fajr begins at 5:01 AM in Riverside, California, and Maghrib, the fast-breaking prayer, is at 4:55 PM. 1 Islamic centers serve the local Muslim community. Below is the complete timetable for all five daily prayers plus the 31-day monthly schedule.
How Prayer Times in Riverside Change Through the Year
The sun runs Riverside's prayer clock, and it never keeps the same hours for long. Fajr reaches its earliest point of 2026 on 08 Jun 2026, at 4:14 AM, and its latest on 08 Mar 2026, at 6:01 AM: a swing of 1 hour 47 minutes between the two. A timetable printed in winter is out of date by summer. The swing is gentler than in the northern states because Riverside sits at 34.0 degrees north, where daylight stays steadier through the year.
The evening moves even more than the morning. The earliest Maghrib of the year in Riverside is 4:40 PM on 29 Nov 2026; the latest is 8:05 PM on 25 Jun 2026, a shift of 3 hours 25 minutes. On the longest day, 21 Jun 2026, sunset holds until 8:04 PM; on the shortest day, 21 Dec 2026, it comes at 4:44 PM.
Anyone who keeps the voluntary fasts, on Mondays and Thursdays or the white days of each month, feels the range most. The longest fast of 2026 in Riverside runs 15 hours 50 minutes, on 19 Jun 2026, from a Fajr of 4:14 AM to a Maghrib of 8:04 PM; the shortest is just 11 hours 7 minutes on 21 Dec 2026. Measured against the other 218 cities and neighbourhoods we track, that longest fast ranks 143 of 218. Solar noon drifts as well: Dhuhr moves between 11:33 AM and 1:00 PM across the year, following the equation of time.
Muslim Community in Riverside, California
Riverside's Muslim community grew up around the University of California, Riverside. The Islamic Center of Riverside, designed by architect Shakil Patel and built in 1979 and 1980, is the oldest purpose built masjid in the Inland Empire. Its site close to the university campus was chosen so it could serve students as well as the wider community, and Friday prayers there regularly attract over 1,000 worshipers.
Riverside's Islamic roots run deeper than that building. A first temple of Islam stood at 4104 Park Avenue around 1969 to 1971, and Masjid Muhammad-Riverside, led by Imam Earl Shah from 1973 to 1980, was the first mosque in the Inland Empire. It was there that Shah began the prison volunteer program that later grew into the full time professional Muslim chaplaincy for California's prison system.
Today the center is a member of the Islamic Shura Council of Southern California and is known for its interfaith efforts and welcoming atmosphere. Along with more than 20 other California centers it holds an annual open house, and each year it honors graduating Muslim students from across the Inland Empire at a ceremony at the Riverside Convention Center. Imam Mustafa H. Kuko has led the center since 1998, and the share of American born worshipers there rose from about 2 percent to about 15 percent by 2012.
How Each Prayer Time Is Calculated in Riverside
Why do the times on this page move a little every day? Because each of the five prayers begins at a set position of the sun. PrayerTimesUSA works out the Riverside schedule with the ISNA method used across most of North America: Fajr and Isha at 15 degrees of sun depression, Asr by the standard shadow rule, with the Hanafi Asr in the method selector above. The Hijri date today in Riverside is 23 Jumādá al-ūlá 1448 (03 Nov 2026).
Fajr (5:01 AM today)
Fajr is the dawn prayer, and its time begins at true dawn, the first horizontal light in the east. Today in Riverside that is 5:01 AM. Pray it before sunrise (6:11 AM); after sunrise it counts as qada (missed). Through the year in Riverside, dawn moves between 4:14 AM and 6:01 AM, so the Fajr alarm needs resetting with the seasons.
Dhuhr (11:33 AM today)
Dhuhr enters just after solar noon, the moment the sun stops climbing and starts down. Solar noon in Riverside is not 12:00 on the clock, because the city sits inside the America/Los_Angeles zone rather than on its meridian line: today it gives a Dhuhr of 11:33 AM. On Fridays, Jummah takes Dhuhr's place.
Asr (2:33 PM today)
The standard Asr rule (followed by the Shafi'i, Maliki and Hanbali schools) starts Asr when a shadow grows as long as the object itself, past the noon shadow: 2:33 PM in Riverside today. The Hanafi school uses twice the length, putting Asr roughly 45 to 65 minutes later; switch the method at the top of the page to see it. Pray Asr before the sunlight yellows late in the day.
Maghrib (4:55 PM today)
Maghrib's window opens at sunset, the instant the sun's disc drops fully out of sight: 4:55 PM today in Riverside. For someone fasting, this is iftar, and the Sunnah is to break the fast at once, with dates or water, before praying.
Isha (6:05 PM today) and the Last Third of the Night
When the red twilight has gone from the west, Isha begins: 6:05 PM tonight in Riverside. The night that follows is measured from Maghrib to Fajr; its last third, after Islamic midnight, is the Tahajjud time. Use the Tahajjud calculator to find tonight's last third in Riverside.
Friday Jummah and Mosques in Riverside, California
Jummah, the Friday congregational prayer, replaces Dhuhr every week and is the largest regular gathering of Muslims in Riverside. The mosque listed below serves Riverside with its address, including Islamic Center of Riverside. Each mosque sets its own khutbah time inside the Dhuhr window (Dhuhr today is 11:33 AM), so check the mosque's own notice board or website before you go, and arrive early: Friday parking fills fast.
Alongside Jummah, these mosques hold the five daily congregational prayers, weekend Quran classes for children, and taraweeh in Ramadan. Know a Riverside mosque that is not listed? Send us its details and we will add it with its address and Jummah time.
