How Prayer Times in Escondido Change Through the Year

Prayer times in Escondido are set by the sun, so they move every single day. The biggest daily swing is at dawn. The earliest Fajr of 2026 in Escondido falls on 11 Jun 2026 at 4:16 AM, while the latest Fajr arrives on 08 Mar 2026 at 6:00 AM. That is a difference of 1 hour 44 minutes across the year, which is why a timetable printed in January cannot be reused in June. The swing is gentler than in the northern states because Escondido sits at 33.1 degrees north, where daylight stays steadier through the year.

Sunset moves even further. Maghrib in Escondido is earliest on 28 Nov 2026 at 4:41 PM and latest on 21 Jun 2026 at 8:01 PM, a shift of 3 hours 20 minutes. On the longest day of the year, 21 Jun 2026, the sun sets at 8:01 PM; on the shortest day, 21 Dec 2026, it sets at 4:45 PM.

For anyone fasting outside Ramadan, such as the Monday and Thursday fasts or the white days each month, the longest fast of 2026 in Escondido runs 15 hours 44 minutes on 17 Jun 2026, from Fajr at 4:16 AM to Maghrib at 8:00 PM. The shortest fast is 11 hours 11 minutes on 20 Dec 2026. Solar noon moves too: Dhuhr ranges from 11:32 AM in one part of the year to 12:59 PM in another, following the equation of time. Measured against the other 218 cities and neighbourhoods we track, that longest fast sits near the gentle end of the table, ranked 172 of 218.

How Each Prayer Time Is Calculated in Escondido

Each prayer begins at a defined position of the sun, not at a fixed clock time. PrayerTimesUSA calculates the Escondido timetable with the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) method, the standard used by most mosques in the United States: Fajr and Isha at a sun angle of 15 degrees, Asr by the standard shadow rule, with the Hanafi Asr shown through the method selector. Today's Hijri date in Escondido is 23 Jumādá al-ūlá 1448 (03 Nov 2026).

Fajr (4:59 AM today)

Fajr begins at true dawn, when the first white light spreads across the eastern horizon. In Escondido today that is 4:59 AM, and the window closes at sunrise (6:08 AM). A prayer offered after sunrise counts as missed (qada), so the Fajr alarm matters most in summer: dawn in Escondido ranges across the year from 4:16 AM at its earliest to 6:00 AM at its latest.

Dhuhr (11:32 AM today)

Dhuhr enters just after solar noon, the moment the sun stops climbing and starts down. Solar noon in Escondido is not 12:00 on the clock, because the city sits inside the America/Los_Angeles zone rather than on its meridian line: today it gives a Dhuhr of 11:32 AM. On Fridays, Jummah takes Dhuhr's place.

Asr (2:33 PM today)

Asr begins when the afternoon shadow of an object equals its height, on top of the shadow it cast at noon. In Escondido today that is 2:33 PM by the standard (Shafi'i, Maliki, Hanbali) rule. The Hanafi school waits for double the height, around 45 to 65 minutes later; the method selector above shows that time. Pray it before the sun weakens and yellows near the horizon.

Maghrib (4:55 PM today)

At 4:55 PM today in Escondido, the sun sets and Maghrib begins. Its window is the shortest of the day, so it is prayed promptly. On fasting days this same moment is iftar: break the fast first, following the Sunnah, with dates or water.

Isha (6:04 PM today) and the Last Third of the Night

When the red twilight has gone from the west, Isha begins: 6:04 PM tonight in Escondido. The night that follows is measured from Maghrib to Fajr; its last third, after Islamic midnight, is the Tahajjud time. Use the Tahajjud calculator to find tonight's last third in Escondido.

Friday Jummah and Mosques in Escondido, California

Jummah, the Friday congregational prayer, replaces Dhuhr every week and is the largest regular gathering of Muslims in Escondido. The mosque listed below serves Escondido with its address, including Islamic Center of Escondido at 318 W 6th Ave, Escondido, CA. Each mosque sets its own khutbah time inside the Dhuhr window (Dhuhr today is 11:32 AM), so check the mosque's own notice board or website before you go, and arrive early: Friday parking fills fast.

Alongside Jummah, these mosques hold the five daily congregational prayers, weekend Quran classes for children, and taraweeh in Ramadan. Know a Escondido mosque that is not listed? Send us its details and we will add it with its address and Jummah time.

Finding the Qibla Direction in Escondido (25.26° North-East)

Muslims pray facing the Kaaba in Mecca, and from Escondido that means facing 25.26° north-east from true north, measured the short way around the globe. The bearing comes from Escondido's position (33.1° N, 117.1° W) set against the Kaaba's (21.4225° N, 39.8262° E). At about 8372 miles (13474 km), it is one of the longer qibla distances in the United States. From Escondido, the great-circle line heads across Canada and the North Atlantic before descending toward Arabia.

At home or at work in Escondido, the Qibla Compass on your phone reads the bearing directly. Calibrate it with a slow figure-eight motion, and keep it clear of metal furniture and electronics that drag the needle. Inside a mosque, the mihrab already marks the direction.

Daylight Saving Time in California: The Two Jump Days

Twice a year in Escondido, the clock moves and every prayer time jumps with it. When daylight saving time begins on 08 Mar 2026, Fajr moves from 5:01 AM to 6:00 AM in a single night, a shift of just under an hour, and Maghrib moves from 5:50 PM to 6:51 PM. When standard time returns on 01 Nov 2026, Fajr moves from 5:57 AM back to 4:57 AM, and sunset prayers come an hour earlier in the evening. Every time on this page already follows the America/Los_Angeles clock in force on that date, so no manual adjustment is ever needed.
