Prayer Times Cleveland: Islamic Prayer Schedule & Community Guide
Prayer times Cleveland for today, 03 Nov 2026 (23 Jumādá al-ūlá 1448 Hijri): Fajr begins at 5:43 AM in Cleveland, Ohio, and Maghrib, the fast-breaking prayer, is at 5:19 PM. 2 Islamic centers serve the local Muslim community. Below is the complete timetable for all five daily prayers plus the 31-day monthly schedule.
How Prayer Times in Cleveland Change Through the Year
No two days in Cleveland start at quite the same time. Across 2026, the earliest dawn prayer falls on 14 Jun 2026 at 4:10 AM, while the latest falls on 31 Oct 2026 at 6:40 AM. Between those dates Fajr travels 2 hours 30 minutes, which is why this page recalculates the timetable daily instead of printing a fixed one. The swing is wide because Cleveland sits at 41.5 degrees north, far enough from the equator for the seasons to move the sun's path a long way.
Sunset moves even further. Maghrib in Cleveland is earliest on 02 Dec 2026 at 4:57 PM and latest on 23 Jun 2026 at 9:05 PM, a shift of 4 hours 8 minutes. On the longest day of the year, 21 Jun 2026, the sun sets at 9:04 PM; on the shortest day, 21 Dec 2026, it sets at 5:00 PM.
For anyone fasting outside Ramadan, such as the Monday and Thursday fasts or the white days each month, the longest fast of 2026 in Cleveland runs 16 hours 54 minutes on 19 Jun 2026, from Fajr at 4:10 AM to Maghrib at 9:04 PM. The shortest fast is 10 hours 34 minutes on 16 Dec 2026. Solar noon moves too: Dhuhr ranges from 12:10 PM in one part of the year to 1:37 PM in another, following the equation of time. Measured against the other 218 cities and neighbourhoods we track, only 42 have a longer longest fast, which puts Cleveland in the longest-fast quarter of the country.
Summer nights are short. The latest Isha of the year falls on 21 Jun 2026 at 10:47 PM, and Fajr follows only a few hours later, so the night prayers crowd together in June and July. Many worshippers in Cleveland plan sleep around this stretch, and some mosques combine or adjust summer night schedules, so check your local mosque's board in midsummer.
Muslim Community in Cleveland, Ohio
Cleveland's Muslim history reaches back to the early 1900s, when Arab immigrants from Lebanon, Syria and Palestine came to work in the city's steel mills, and the first Muslims gathered informally in homes. By 1950 there were about 500 Muslims in the area, and in the 1960s immigration rose sharply, with young Muslims also arriving to study at Cleveland's colleges. African American Muslims, including converts during the civil rights movement, form another large part of the community today.
The Islamic Center of Cleveland began in 1966 when local Muslims prayed together in homes and temporary places around University Circle. In 1967 a group of 39 formally established the center, and in July 1968 it bought a house at West 94th Street and Detroit Avenue, moving in during the fall of 1969. In 1975 Saudi King Khalid, who had come to know the center during a stay at the Cleveland Clinic, paid off its remaining mortgage, when membership stood at about 100 families.
By the mid 1980s membership had grown to 1,000 people from many nationalities, and in 1988 the center bought land in Parma, where a new mosque designed by Ohio architect Gerald Rembowski was built between 1989 and 1995 and now stands at 6055 West 130th Street. Today Greater Cleveland has 15 mosques, alongside the Cleveland Islamic School and Arab American and Pakistani American community organizations.
How Each Prayer Time Is Calculated in Cleveland
Prayer times follow the sun, so they shift a little every day. For Cleveland, this page uses the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) method, the one most US mosques follow: a 15-degree sun angle for Fajr and Isha, the standard shadow rule for Asr, and the Hanafi Asr available in the method selector. Today, 03 Nov 2026, is 23 Jumādá al-ūlá 1448 on the Hijri calendar.
Fajr (5:43 AM today)
Fajr begins at true dawn, when the first white light spreads across the eastern horizon. In Cleveland today that is 5:43 AM, and the window closes at sunrise (7:01 AM). A prayer offered after sunrise counts as missed (qada), so the Fajr alarm matters most in summer: dawn in Cleveland ranges across the year from 4:10 AM at its earliest to 6:40 AM at its latest.
Dhuhr (12:10 PM today)
Dhuhr begins just after the sun passes its highest point and starts to descend. Clock noon and solar noon rarely match, because Cleveland sits inside the America/New_York zone rather than on its meridian, so Dhuhr today is 12:10 PM. On Fridays, Jummah replaces Dhuhr.
Asr (2:57 PM today)
Under the standard rule used by the Shafi'i, Maliki and Hanbali schools, Asr opens when a shadow stretches to the object's own length beyond the noon shadow. That gives 2:57 PM in Cleveland today. Hanafi Asr, at twice the length, lands roughly 45 to 65 minutes later; flip the method selector at the top of the page to see it. The time to pray Asr runs out as the light yellows toward sunset.
Maghrib (5:19 PM today)
At 5:19 PM today in Cleveland, the sun sets and Maghrib begins. Its window is the shortest of the day, so it is prayed promptly. On fasting days this same moment is iftar: break the fast first, following the Sunnah, with dates or water.
Isha (6:37 PM today) and the Last Third of the Night
Isha starts when the red afterglow fades from the western sky: 6:37 PM tonight in Cleveland. The middle of the Islamic night falls halfway between Maghrib and tomorrow's Fajr, and the last third of the night after that midpoint is the Tahajjud time. Find tonight's exact last third with our Tahajjud calculator.

Finding the Qibla Direction in Cleveland (53.09° North-East)
Prayer is valid only when faced toward the Kaaba in Mecca, and from Cleveland the shortest path over the Earth's surface, the great-circle route, points 53.09° north-east from true north. The bearing is calculated from Cleveland's coordinates (41.5° N, 81.7° W) to the Kaaba (21.4225° N, 39.8262° E). At about 6705 miles (10790 km), that puts Cleveland among the closer American places to Mecca. It surprises many people that the direction is north-east rather than south-east: from North America, the shortest line to Mecca crosses the North Atlantic, not the Pacific.
To face the qibla at home or at work in Cleveland, open the Qibla Compass on your phone, calibrate it with a slow figure-eight motion, and keep it away from metal furniture and electrical equipment that pull the needle. In a mosque, the mihrab already marks the direction.

When standard time returns on 01 Nov 2026, Fajr moves from 6:40 AM back to 5:41 AM, and sunset prayers come an hour earlier in the evening.
