Prayer Times Cincinnati: Islamic Prayer Schedule & Community Guide

Prayer times Cincinnati - Islamic prayer schedule and mosque guide

Looking for prayer times Cincinnati? Today is 03 Nov 2026 (23 Jumādá al-ūlá 1448 Hijri) in Cincinnati, Ohio. Fajr begins at 5:53 AM and the fast-breaking Maghrib prayer is at 5:35 PM. 2 Islamic centers serve the local Muslim community. The complete timetable below covers all five daily prayers plus the 31-day monthly schedule.

How Prayer Times in Cincinnati Change Through the Year

No two days in Cincinnati start at quite the same time. Across 2026, the earliest dawn prayer falls on 15 Jun 2026 at 4:36 AM, while the latest falls on 31 Oct 2026 at 6:50 AM. Between those dates Fajr travels 2 hours 14 minutes, which is why this page recalculates the timetable daily instead of printing a fixed one. The swing is wide because Cincinnati sits at 39.1 degrees north, far enough from the equator for the seasons to move the sun's path a long way.

The evening moves even more than the morning. The earliest Maghrib of the year in Cincinnati is 5:15 PM on 03 Dec 2026; the latest is 9:08 PM on 22 Jun 2026, a shift of 3 hours 53 minutes. On the longest day, 21 Jun 2026, sunset holds until 9:07 PM; on the shortest day, 21 Dec 2026, it comes at 5:19 PM.

Anyone who keeps the voluntary fasts, on Mondays and Thursdays or the white days of each month, feels the range most. The longest fast of 2026 in Cincinnati runs 16 hours 31 minutes, on 18 Jun 2026, from a Fajr of 4:36 AM to a Maghrib of 9:07 PM; the shortest is just 10 hours 45 minutes on 18 Dec 2026. Measured against the other 218 cities and neighbourhoods we track, that longest fast ranks 82 of 218. Solar noon drifts as well: Dhuhr moves between 12:22 PM and 1:49 PM across the year, following the equation of time.

Summer nights are short. The latest Isha of the year falls on 20 Jun 2026 at 10:43 PM, and Fajr follows only a few hours later, so the night prayers crowd together in June and July. Many worshippers in Cincinnati plan sleep around this stretch, and some mosques combine or adjust summer night schedules, so check your local mosque's board in midsummer.

📊 The 2026 year in Cincinnati, in numbers: Longest fast 16 hours 31 minutes (18 Jun 2026) · Shortest fast 10 hours 45 minutes (18 Dec 2026) · Fajr ranges from 4:36 AM (15 Jun 2026) to 6:50 AM (31 Oct 2026) · Maghrib ranges from 5:15 PM (03 Dec 2026) to 9:08 PM (22 Jun 2026). Muslim Community in Cincinnati, Ohio

Cincinnati's Muslim community first tried to organize in the early 1960s, meeting for Friday prayer at the University of Cincinnati YMCA and later at the Wesley Foundation on Clifton Avenue. Around 1968 a local family bought a house at 2515 Fairview Avenue and converted it into a mosque, and the Islamic Association of Cincinnati was officially established in 1970. Students walked from the university and nearby hospitals, Friday attendance grew, children's classes began, and Ramadan brought nightly prayers and weekly iftars.

Within ten years the community outgrew the Fairview Avenue house, and in 1982 the association bought a larger facility at 3668 Clifton Avenue, the site of today's Clifton Mosque. A new mosque and community center on that site opened in June 2003. Meanwhile the association had bought 18 acres in West Chester in 1988, and the Islamic Center of Greater Cincinnati opened there in November 1995 as the first building in Cincinnati purpose built as a mosque.

The West Chester campus, built with a major contribution from Syrian immigrant businessman Ahmad Samawi, holds a masjid with gold domes, a community center and an educational building. Its El-Sewedy International Academy opened in August 2001, and the center is known for interfaith tours and talks. In January 2017 Clifton Mosque became the first mosque to join the Sanctuary Movement in the United States.

How Each Prayer Time Is Calculated in Cincinnati

Prayer times follow the sun, so they shift a little every day. For Cincinnati, this page uses the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) method, the one most US mosques follow: a 15-degree sun angle for Fajr and Isha, the standard shadow rule for Asr, and the Hanafi Asr available in the method selector. Today, 03 Nov 2026, is 23 Jumādá al-ūlá 1448 on the Hijri calendar.

Fajr (5:53 AM today)

True dawn, the first white light spreading sideways along the eastern horizon, opens the Fajr window. In Cincinnati today that moment is 5:53 AM. The window shuts at sunrise (7:08 AM); a Fajr prayed after that is qada, a missed prayer made up later. Because dawn in Cincinnati swings between 4:36 AM and 6:50 AM over the year, a fixed alarm time never works for long.

Dhuhr (12:22 PM today)

The noon prayer begins once the sun has passed its peak. In Cincinnati that works out to 12:22 PM today. Clock time and sun time differ here because Cincinnati keeps America/New_York time from a position away from the zone's central meridian. On Fridays the congregational Jummah replaces Dhuhr.

Asr (3:13 PM today)

Asr begins when the afternoon shadow of an object equals its height, on top of the shadow it cast at noon. In Cincinnati today that is 3:13 PM by the standard (Shafi'i, Maliki, Hanbali) rule. The Hanafi school waits for double the height, around 45 to 65 minutes later; the method selector above shows that time. Pray it before the sun weakens and yellows near the horizon.

Maghrib (5:35 PM today)

At 5:35 PM today in Cincinnati, the sun sets and Maghrib begins. Its window is the shortest of the day, so it is prayed promptly. On fasting days this same moment is iftar: break the fast first, following the Sunnah, with dates or water.

Isha (6:50 PM today) and the Last Third of the Night

Isha starts when the red afterglow fades from the western sky: 6:50 PM tonight in Cincinnati. The middle of the Islamic night falls halfway between Maghrib and tomorrow's Fajr, and the last third of the night after that midpoint is the Tahajjud time. Find tonight's exact last third with our Tahajjud calculator.

Friday Jummah and Mosques in Cincinnati, Ohio

Jummah, the Friday congregational prayer, replaces Dhuhr every week and is the largest regular gathering of Muslims in Cincinnati. 2 mosques and Islamic centers in Cincinnati are listed below with their addresses, including Islamic Center of Greater Cincinnati (ICGC). Each mosque sets its own khutbah time inside the Dhuhr window (Dhuhr today is 12:22 PM), so check the mosque's own notice board or website before you go, and arrive early: Friday parking fills fast.

These mosques also run weekend schools, community iftars in Ramadan and the five daily prayers in congregation. If a Cincinnati mosque is missing here, contact us with its address and Jummah time and we will add it.

Finding the Qibla Direction in Cincinnati (51.35° North-East)

Prayer is valid only when faced toward the Kaaba in Mecca, and from Cincinnati the shortest path over the Earth's surface, the great-circle route, points 51.35° north-east from true north. The bearing is calculated from Cincinnati's coordinates (39.1° N, 84.5° W) to the Kaaba (21.4225° N, 39.8262° E). Along that bearing, the Kaaba is about 6923 miles (11142 km) from Cincinnati in a straight line over the Earth's curved surface. It surprises many people that the direction is north-east rather than south-east: from North America, the shortest line to Mecca crosses the North Atlantic, not the Pacific.

At home or at work in Cincinnati, the Qibla Compass on your phone reads the bearing directly. Calibrate it with a slow figure-eight motion, and keep it clear of metal furniture and electronics that drag the needle. Inside a mosque, the mihrab already marks the direction.

Daylight Saving Time in Ohio: The Two Jump Days

Cincinnati moves its clocks twice a year, and the prayer timetable jumps with them. Daylight saving begins on 08 Mar 2026: Fajr leaps from 5:48 AM to 6:47 AM in one night, a shift of just under an hour, and Maghrib follows, from 6:37 PM to 7:38 PM. On 01 Nov 2026 the clocks fall back, and Fajr returns from 6:50 AM to 5:51 AM. Mosques in Cincinnati reset their iqamah boards on the same weekends. This page always follows the America/New_York time in force, so the times you see are already adjusted.
