Prayer Times Plano, TX Today

How Prayer Times in Plano Change Through the Year

No two days in Plano start at quite the same time. Across 2026, the earliest dawn prayer falls on 10 Jun 2026 at 4:55 AM, while the latest falls on 08 Mar 2026 at 6:38 AM. Between those dates Fajr travels 1 hour 43 minutes, which is why this page recalculates the timetable daily instead of printing a fixed one. The swing is gentler than in the northern states because Plano sits at 33.0 degrees north, where daylight stays steadier through the year.

Sunset moves even further. Maghrib in Plano is earliest on 27 Nov 2026 at 5:20 PM and latest on 28 Jun 2026 at 8:40 PM, a shift of 3 hours 20 minutes. On the longest day of the year, 21 Jun 2026, the sun sets at 8:39 PM; on the shortest day, 21 Dec 2026, it sets at 5:24 PM.

Anyone who keeps the voluntary fasts, on Mondays and Thursdays or the white days of each month, feels the range most. The longest fast of 2026 in Plano runs 15 hours 43 minutes, on 17 Jun 2026, from a Fajr of 4:55 AM to a Maghrib of 8:38 PM; the shortest is just 11 hours 12 minutes on 16 Dec 2026. Measured against the other 218 cities and neighbourhoods we track, that longest fast sits near the gentle end of the table, ranked 176 of 218. Solar noon drifts as well: Dhuhr moves between 12:10 PM and 1:37 PM across the year, following the equation of time.

How Each Prayer Time Is Calculated in Plano

Each prayer begins at a defined position of the sun, not at a fixed clock time. PrayerTimesUSA calculates the Plano timetable with the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) method, the standard used by most mosques in the United States: Fajr and Isha at a sun angle of 15 degrees, Asr by the standard shadow rule, with the Hanafi Asr shown through the method selector. Today's Hijri date in Plano is 23 Jumādá al-ūlá 1448 (03 Nov 2026).

Fajr (5:37 AM today)

Fajr begins at true dawn, when the first white light spreads across the eastern horizon. In Plano today that is 5:37 AM, and the window closes at sunrise (6:47 AM). A prayer offered after sunrise counts as missed (qada), so the Fajr alarm matters most in summer: dawn in Plano ranges across the year from 4:55 AM at its earliest to 6:38 AM at its latest.

Dhuhr (12:10 PM today)

Dhuhr enters just after solar noon, the moment the sun stops climbing and starts down. Solar noon in Plano is not 12:00 on the clock, because the city sits inside the America/Chicago zone rather than on its meridian line: today it gives a Dhuhr of 12:10 PM. On Fridays, Jummah takes Dhuhr's place.

Asr (3:12 PM today)

Asr begins when the afternoon shadow of an object equals its height, on top of the shadow it cast at noon. In Plano today that is 3:12 PM by the standard (Shafi'i, Maliki, Hanbali) rule. The Hanafi school waits for double the height, around 45 to 65 minutes later; the method selector above shows that time. Pray it before the sun weakens and yellows near the horizon.

Maghrib (5:34 PM today)

Maghrib begins at sunset, the instant the sun's disc slips fully below the horizon: today that is 5:34 PM in Plano. On a fasting day this moment is iftar, and the Sunnah is to break the fast right away, with dates or water, and then pray Maghrib.

Isha (6:43 PM today) and the Last Third of the Night

Isha begins when the red twilight leaves the western sky, at 6:43 PM tonight in Plano. Islamic midnight is the midpoint between Maghrib and the next Fajr, and the last third of the night after it is the time of Tahajjud, the voluntary night prayer. Use our Tahajjud calculator to find tonight's last third for Plano.

Finding the Qibla Direction in Plano (43.52° North-East)

Muslims pray facing the Kaaba in Mecca, and from Plano that means facing 43.52° north-east from true north, measured the short way around the globe. The bearing comes from Plano's position (33.0° N, 96.7° W) set against the Kaaba's (21.4225° N, 39.8262° E). At about 7707 miles (12404 km), it is one of the longer qibla distances in the United States. It surprises many people that the direction is north-east rather than south-east: from North America, the shortest line to Mecca crosses the North Atlantic, not the Pacific.

To face the qibla at home or at work in Plano, open the Qibla Compass on your phone, calibrate it with a slow figure-eight motion, and keep it away from metal furniture and electrical equipment that pull the needle. In a mosque, the mihrab already marks the direction.

Daylight Saving Time in Texas: The Two Jump Days

Twice a year in Plano, the clock moves and every prayer time jumps with it. When daylight saving time begins on 08 Mar 2026, Fajr moves from 5:40 AM to 6:38 AM in a single night, a shift of just under an hour, and Maghrib moves from 6:29 PM to 7:30 PM. When standard time returns on 01 Nov 2026, Fajr moves from 6:35 AM back to 5:36 AM, and sunset prayers come an hour earlier in the evening. Every time on this page already follows the America/Chicago clock in force on that date, so no manual adjustment is ever needed.
