Prayer Times Tulsa: Islamic Prayer Schedule & Community Guide
Looking for prayer times Tulsa? Today is 03 Nov 2026 (23 Jumādá al-ūlá 1448 Hijri) in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Fajr begins at 5:37 AM and the fast-breaking Maghrib prayer is at 5:26 PM. 1 Islamic centers serve the local Muslim community. The complete timetable below covers all five daily prayers plus the 31-day monthly schedule.
How Prayer Times in Tulsa Change Through the Year
Prayer times in Tulsa are set by the sun, so they move every single day. The biggest daily swing is at dawn. The earliest Fajr of 2026 in Tulsa falls on 11 Jun 2026 at 4:38 AM, while the latest Fajr arrives on 08 Mar 2026 at 6:34 AM. That is a difference of 1 hour 56 minutes across the year, which is why a timetable printed in January cannot be reused in June. The swing is gentler than in the northern states because Tulsa sits at 36.2 degrees north, where daylight stays steadier through the year.
The evening moves even more than the morning. The earliest Maghrib of the year in Tulsa is 5:09 PM on 01 Dec 2026; the latest is 8:45 PM on 21 Jun 2026, a shift of 3 hours 36 minutes. On the longest day, 21 Jun 2026, sunset holds until 8:45 PM; on the shortest day, 21 Dec 2026, it comes at 5:13 PM.
For anyone fasting outside Ramadan, such as the Monday and Thursday fasts or the white days each month, the longest fast of 2026 in Tulsa runs 16 hours 6 minutes on 17 Jun 2026, from Fajr at 4:38 AM to Maghrib at 8:44 PM. The shortest fast is 10 hours 58 minutes on 21 Dec 2026. Solar noon moves too: Dhuhr ranges from 12:08 PM in one part of the year to 1:35 PM in another, following the equation of time. Measured against the other 218 cities and neighbourhoods we track, that longest fast ranks 110 of 218.
Muslim Community in Tulsa, Oklahoma
Tulsa's Muslim community began small enough to fit in a garage near the University of Tulsa, where early worshippers gathered before moving to a house used as a dormitory and then to a building at Fourth Street and Birmingham Avenue. The Islamic Society of Tulsa was founded in 1977 and became the anchor of Muslim life in northeastern Oklahoma.
In 1997 the society built Masjid As-Salam at 4630 South Irvington Avenue, a 23,604 square foot mosque paid for entirely in cash at a cost of about 1.5 million dollars, with no debt. The mosque also runs a free medical clinic for those who cannot pay, classroom programs for children and adults and funeral services for the community.
The society's story also runs through the University of Tulsa, where Muslim students prayed in a campus activity center and a former ROTC building before the university mosque was completed in 2004. The university's Muslim Student Association is a founding affiliate of the Islamic Society of Tulsa. As the community has grown, the society bought land in Broken Arrow in 2014 for a second mosque to serve families there.
How Each Prayer Time Is Calculated in Tulsa
Why do the times on this page move a little every day? Because each of the five prayers begins at a set position of the sun. PrayerTimesUSA works out the Tulsa schedule with the ISNA method used across most of North America: Fajr and Isha at 15 degrees of sun depression, Asr by the standard shadow rule, with the Hanafi Asr in the method selector above. The Hijri date today in Tulsa is 23 Jumādá al-ūlá 1448 (03 Nov 2026).
Fajr (5:37 AM today)
Fajr is the dawn prayer, and its time begins at true dawn, the first horizontal light in the east. Today in Tulsa that is 5:37 AM. Pray it before sunrise (6:49 AM); after sunrise it counts as qada (missed). Through the year in Tulsa, dawn moves between 4:38 AM and 6:34 AM, so the Fajr alarm needs resetting with the seasons.
Dhuhr (12:08 PM today)
Dhuhr begins just after the sun passes its highest point and starts to descend. Clock noon and solar noon rarely match, because Tulsa sits inside the America/Chicago zone rather than on its meridian, so Dhuhr today is 12:08 PM. On Fridays, Jummah replaces Dhuhr.
Asr (3:04 PM today)
Under the standard rule used by the Shafi'i, Maliki and Hanbali schools, Asr opens when a shadow stretches to the object's own length beyond the noon shadow. That gives 3:04 PM in Tulsa today. Hanafi Asr, at twice the length, lands roughly 45 to 65 minutes later; flip the method selector at the top of the page to see it. The time to pray Asr runs out as the light yellows toward sunset.
Maghrib (5:26 PM today)
Maghrib begins at sunset, the instant the sun's disc slips fully below the horizon: today that is 5:26 PM in Tulsa. On a fasting day this moment is iftar, and the Sunnah is to break the fast right away, with dates or water, and then pray Maghrib.
Isha (6:38 PM today) and the Last Third of the Night
Isha begins when the last red glow leaves the western sky: 6:38 PM tonight in Tulsa. Halfway between Maghrib and the next Fajr falls Islamic midnight, and the last third of the night after it is set aside for Tahajjud, the voluntary night prayer. Tonight's last third for Tulsa is on our Tahajjud calculator.
Friday Jummah and Mosques in Tulsa, Oklahoma
Every Friday, Jummah replaces Dhuhr, and it is the largest weekly gathering of Muslims in Tulsa. The verified mosque below serves Tulsa, with its address, headed by Islamic Society of Tulsa. Each mosque sets its own khutbah time inside the Dhuhr window (Dhuhr today is 12:08 PM), so check the mosque's own notice board or website before you go, and arrive early: Friday parking fills fast.
Alongside Jummah, these mosques hold the five daily congregational prayers, weekend Quran classes for children, and taraweeh in Ramadan. Know a Tulsa mosque that is not listed? Send us its details and we will add it with its address and Jummah time.
Finding the Qibla Direction in Tulsa (43.29° North-East)
Prayer is valid only when faced toward the Kaaba in Mecca, and from Tulsa the shortest path over the Earth's surface, the great-circle route, points 43.29° north-east from true north. The bearing is calculated from Tulsa's coordinates (36.2° N, 96.0° W) to the Kaaba (21.4225° N, 39.8262° E). Along that bearing, the Kaaba is about 7523 miles (12107 km) from Tulsa in a straight line over the Earth's curved surface. It surprises many people that the direction is north-east rather than south-east: from North America, the shortest line to Mecca crosses the North Atlantic, not the Pacific.
At home or at work in Tulsa, the Qibla Compass on your phone reads the bearing directly. Calibrate it with a slow figure-eight motion, and keep it clear of metal furniture and electronics that drag the needle. Inside a mosque, the mihrab already marks the direction.
Daylight Saving Time in Oklahoma: The Two Jump Days
Twice a year in Tulsa, the clock moves and every prayer time jumps with it. When daylight saving time begins on 08 Mar 2026, Fajr moves from 5:36 AM to 6:34 AM in a single night, a shift of just under an hour, and Maghrib moves from 6:24 PM to 7:25 PM. When standard time returns on 01 Nov 2026, Fajr moves from 6:34 AM back to 5:35 AM, and sunset prayers come an hour earlier in the evening. Every time on this page already follows the America/Chicago clock in force on that date, so no manual adjustment is ever needed.
