Prayer Times Honolulu: Islamic Prayer Schedule & Community Guide
This is the Honolulu, Hawaii prayer timetable for 03 Nov 2026 (23 Jumādá al-ūlá 1448 Hijri). Prayer times Honolulu today start with Fajr at 5:33 AM and end the fast at Maghrib, 5:54 PM. 1 Islamic centers serve the local Muslim community. All five daily prayers and the full 31-day monthly schedule are below.
How Prayer Times in Honolulu Change Through the Year
The sun runs Honolulu's prayer clock, and it never keeps the same hours for long. Fajr reaches its earliest point of 2026 on 07 Jun 2026, at 4:39 AM, and its latest on 12 Jan 2026, at 6:07 AM: a swing of 1 hour 28 minutes between the two. A timetable printed in winter is out of date by summer. The swing is gentler than in the northern states because Honolulu sits at 21.3 degrees north, where daylight stays steadier through the year.
Sunset moves even further. Maghrib in Honolulu is earliest on 21 Nov 2026 at 5:48 PM and latest on 30 Jun 2026 at 7:18 PM, a shift of 1 hour 30 minutes. On the longest day of the year, 21 Jun 2026, the sun sets at 7:16 PM; on the shortest day, 21 Dec 2026, it sets at 5:55 PM.
Anyone who keeps the voluntary fasts, on Mondays and Thursdays or the white days of each month, feels the range most. The longest fast of 2026 in Honolulu runs 14 hours 36 minutes, on 18 Jun 2026, from a Fajr of 4:40 AM to a Maghrib of 7:16 PM; the shortest is just 11 hours 56 minutes on 13 Dec 2026. Measured against the other 218 cities and neighbourhoods we track, that longest fast sits near the gentle end of the table, ranked 218 of 218. Solar noon drifts as well: Dhuhr moves between 12:15 PM and 12:46 PM across the year, following the equation of time.
Muslim Community in Honolulu, Hawaii
Honolulu's Muslim community is small but old: Muslims have visited and lived in Hawaii for more than a century, and the islands' first organized Muslim group formed in the mid-1960s, when students and professors from Asia arrived at the University of Hawaii's East-West Center in Manoa and began praying together in a cottage on campus.
In 1979 the community bought its first masjid, a large clapboard house at 1935 Aleo Place in Manoa, which became the home of the Muslim Association of Hawaii. Its first imam on record, Hajj Saad Abdul Rahim Shih Ming Wang, was born in China and educated at Al-Azhar University in Cairo, a background shared by the current imam, Ismail ElShikh.
Today the Manoa mosque serves Muslims from more than 36 countries, from Uighurs of China to Touaregs of Mauritania, alongside Hawaii-born converts and military families, with daily prayers, Friday Jumu'ah, Quran classes, sisters' study circles and Ramadan taraweeh. In 2009 the state legislature even designated September 24 as Islam Day, recognizing the contributions of the Islamic world to Hawaii.
How Each Prayer Time Is Calculated in Honolulu
Why do the times on this page move a little every day? Because each of the five prayers begins at a set position of the sun. PrayerTimesUSA works out the Honolulu schedule with the ISNA method used across most of North America: Fajr and Isha at 15 degrees of sun depression, Asr by the standard shadow rule, with the Hanafi Asr in the method selector above. The Hijri date today in Honolulu is 23 Jumādá al-ūlá 1448 (03 Nov 2026).
Fajr (5:33 AM today)
Fajr is prayed at dawn, when light first appears across the horizon before sunrise. Today in Honolulu it begins at 5:33 AM and must be finished by sunrise (6:36 AM). Across the year, Honolulu's dawn moves from 4:39 AM at the earliest to 6:07 AM at the latest, so regular worshippers reset their Fajr alarm every few weeks.
Dhuhr (12:15 PM today)
The noon prayer begins once the sun has passed its peak. In Honolulu that works out to 12:15 PM today. Clock time and sun time differ here because Honolulu keeps Pacific/Honolulu time from a position away from the zone's central meridian. On Fridays the congregational Jummah replaces Dhuhr.
Asr (3:30 PM today)
The standard Asr rule (followed by the Shafi'i, Maliki and Hanbali schools) starts Asr when a shadow grows as long as the object itself, past the noon shadow: 3:30 PM in Honolulu today. The Hanafi school uses twice the length, putting Asr roughly 45 to 65 minutes later; switch the method at the top of the page to see it. Pray Asr before the sunlight yellows late in the day.
Maghrib (5:54 PM today)
Maghrib enters the moment the whole disc of the sun disappears below the horizon: 5:54 PM today in Honolulu. It is also the iftar moment on fasting days, and the Sunnah is to break the fast promptly with dates or water, then pray.
Isha (6:57 PM today) and the Last Third of the Night
Isha begins when the red twilight leaves the western sky, at 6:57 PM tonight in Honolulu. Islamic midnight is the midpoint between Maghrib and the next Fajr, and the last third of the night after it is the time of Tahajjud, the voluntary night prayer. Use our Tahajjud calculator to find tonight's last third for Honolulu.
Friday Jummah and Mosques in Honolulu, Hawaii
Every Friday, Jummah replaces Dhuhr, and it is the largest weekly gathering of Muslims in Honolulu. The verified mosque below serves Honolulu, with its address, headed by Muslim Association of Hawaii. Each mosque sets its own khutbah time inside the Dhuhr window (Dhuhr today is 12:15 PM), so check the mosque's own notice board or website before you go, and arrive early: Friday parking fills fast.
Most mosques in Honolulu also hold the five daily prayers in congregation, Quran classes for children, and taraweeh through Ramadan. If your mosque in Honolulu is missing from the list, contact us and we will add it with its address and Jummah time.
Finding the Qibla Direction in Honolulu (336.89° North-West)
Muslims pray facing the Kaaba in Mecca, and from Honolulu that means facing 336.89° north-west from true north, measured the short way around the globe. The bearing comes from Honolulu's position (21.3° N, 157.9° W) set against the Kaaba's (21.4225° N, 39.8262° E). At about 9253 miles (14891 km), it is one of the longer qibla distances in the United States. From Honolulu, the great-circle line runs over the high Arctic before descending toward Arabia, which is why the bearing points almost due north.
To face the qibla at home or at work in Honolulu, open the Qibla Compass on your phone, calibrate it with a slow figure-eight motion, and keep it away from metal furniture and electrical equipment that pull the needle. In a mosque, the mihrab already marks the direction.
No Clock Changes in Hawaii: Times Move Only With the Sun
Hawaii does not move its clocks for daylight saving time, so prayer times in Honolulu never jump by an hour in spring or fall. They drift only with the sun, usually by a minute or two a day. One caution: if you travel to a state that does change its clocks, or your phone picks up a tower across a state line, your device clock may shift even though the Honolulu timetable has not. Every time on this page follows the Pacific/Honolulu zone.
